Horror Genre

After we'd decided that  we wanted to produce a horror film, we then sat and brainstormed words which we associate with the horror genre. It ended up being harder than we thought as we realised that horror crosses over into a few different genres, for example, supernatural and thriller. After brainstorming these we used this as a guideline to think of plot lines that relate to the horror genre. Doing this activity really helped us realise that we all think different things when we think of horror which is good because it enables us to have a wide-ranging piece and be able to include more horror signifiers than we thought.

The Research into the genre is very important when creating an opening of a film. You need to understand what goes into a film and what sort of things people expect from the a specific genre. We made sure that we did a lot of research into the genre that we had chosen so that we were able to fit the conventions of it.

We made sure that we looked into both horror and thriller as we thought that our idea would cross over into both and so we wanted to make sure that we kept to the conventions of both the thriller and horror genre.
