Question 2

Question 2

Costume - We have chosen the character to look like she is from an mental institution/hospital as she is wearing a medical gown. she is also not wearing any shoes, just socks which could suggest that she has ran away eagerly from where she was before.  Furthermore helps engage the audience making them curious of what the character is doing and why they are at a graveyard. This links into our of  Genre of horror.

Setting - The our opening is set in a graveyard with a church in the backgorund. the character is first seen walking strangely towards the building. By setting it in a graveyard, tention is show through out and the atmosphere is uncomfortable.

Apperance - The characters hair is back combed, looking rough, big and bushy showing she has no intentions of keeping her appearance clean and tidy. We wanted to portray this look towards the audience to create an atmosphere of being on edge. We reasearched different films with genres of horror and thiller to give inspiration of how the apperance of the character should be. films such as 'The Grudge' and 'The Ring'. Both main characters have the looks of a distressed girl in a look white gown/ dress with long dirty type looking hair.

We All Fall Down - Production

This was our first draft of our film opening, although we liked this, we realised that it looked a lot like a trailer as did a lot of people who we showed this opening too.
We then decided to add a clip on the end of Josie in her everyday life to make it look more like a film opening  We also changed the titles from the first time as it going straight onto a black screen it made it look more like a trailer so we decided to elongate the clip of Josie walking into the chapel and have the title come over that. We also had to edit the end of the clip because it cut off before we wanted it too.

After our second draft we decided that when we added both pieces of footage the editing between them looked awkward and didn't flow nicely together so we then decided to take out the second part. After changing the titles so that they came up on the screen over the footage we decided that we needed to have the rest of 'ring a ring a roses' before 'We All Fall Down' comes up for the title to make sense, so we extended the voice clip which then enabled the title to make sense in the context we put it in.

After showing this to our target audience at our screening, one of the boys said that it would make sense for us to have a date and time in the graveyard and then have an earlier date and time when she wakes up so people would realise that it wasn't happening simultaneously and that infact what happened at the beginning would come clear later, which may lead to people wanted to watch the whole film.
