Props Research

Usually, the typical props used in thriller films are:    

• Knives
• Weapons
• Blood
• Makeup
• Masks

Sometimes there are stranger props you wouldn’t think about or take any notice to in thriller/ scary films, such as:

• Tents (camping out... something bad is going to happen)    
• Cars
• Mobile phone

In our film, we aren’t going to use many props at all as we don’t really need to and they aren’t that important to our opening sequence. All we are going to have in our scene is our character (Amelia) in a dress with fake blood on her hand and dark scary makeup on. The makeup we use and the fake blood are really our only props as the rest is just the setting.

When we got to our location we decided that the fake blood and makeup that we were going to use didn't need to be as when we looked over some footage we had taken it looked scary enough as it was. Also in some of the student films we'd watched, by adding makeup and fake blood it made it look less realistic and so we decided against using it. The only props we used were candles which we had lined up outside the chapel which created an eery effect and a cross which was already in the chapel, we used this to signify that there might be some supernatural things going on.
